Common Conditions
COMMON CONDITIONS TREATED
Degenerative Spine Conditions
- Affects small joints and discs of the spine
- Occurs mostly between 40-65 years of age
- Typically due to repetitive stress (sports, work, overweight)
- More likely to have one or more of the following symptoms/conditions
Mechanical Joint Pain/Dysfunction (related to the spine/sacroiliac joints)
- Abnormal/restricted motion of small joints of the spine or sacroiliac joints
- Local pain, swelling, or muscle spasm
- Due to repetitive stress or trauma of daily activities. Often times is accompanied by overly tight muscles
Sprains/Strains (related to the spine/sacroiliac joints)
- Acute or chronic stretching of the muscle tendon or ligament that cause pain and inflammation
- Often times is due to car accidents, sports injuries, or prolonged poor posture
Facet Syndrome
- Inflammation in and around small joints of vertebrae (spinal bones) and soft tissues of the spine
- Referred non-radicular (not sharp/shooting) pain into extremities
- Jumping, throwing, swinging, weightlifting athletes
Cervical/Lumbar Disc Syndrome
- Radicular pain into extremities from cervical/lumbar disc
- Inflammation of surrounding soft tissue
- Numbness/tingling, sharp pain, and muscle spasm
- Referral to appropriate specialist/imaging if needed
Headaches
- Muscle tightness in suboccipital (base of the skull) region
- Can feel like a tight band around your head
- Result of prolonged static postures or repetitive contact of the head and neck
Myofascial Pain Syndrome
- Pain from muscles and surrounding soft tissue of spine
- Swelling, spasms, stiffness, or tenderness in the affected muscles
- Trigger points found in muscle bellies
- Caused by injury or overuse
Sciatica
- Nerve compression typically caused by soft tissue or lumbar disc
- Sharp pain down leg, muscle spasm, and altered gait
Whiplash
- Violent uncontrolled movement trauma to head, neck, or lower back
- Reduced range of motion, pain, swelling, and muscle spasm
Chiropractic Treatment
- Comprehensive chiropractic treatment
- All or any combination of manipulation, soft tissue mobilization, and core exercise is applied
- Restores normal joint function, reduces joint/muscle inflammation, and stabilizes weak/injured areas
- Improved patient outcomes and satisfaction
